Jackson Fall Festival announces Battle of the Bands lineup, featuring Kung Fu Diesel

Six area bands to compete for $1,000 prize

Jackson, MI – The 15th annual Jackson Family Festival announces six bands have been selected to compete in the Battle of Bands on Saturday, Sept. 15, on the grounds of St. John School, 405 E. North St., in Jackson. The top band will win $1,000, followed by $300 and $200 to first and second runners-up, respectively.

Competing will be:

  • Holy Roots
  • Personality Crisis
  • Autumns Fall
  • Unknown Crowe
  • Jacktown Hustlers 
  • Handsome Pete

Judges for the event are Seymour Black,  Director at Seventeen After Five;  Mojo, Afternoons at Q106 and Dan Kesterke, Director of Bands, Siena Heights University, Adrian, MI

Parma’s very own Kung Fu Diesel performs at 9 p.m, with the winner announced at 10 pm. KFD then performs until midnight.

The Battle of the Bands will be in the Entertainment Tent. Admission and parking are free to this family-friendly competition. The contest is sponsored by 92.8, The Duke and Q106.

In addition to annual features like the Midway rides, the Food Court, Bake Sale, and Marketplace, the 2018 edition now offers several new activities:

  • Friday Night Lights – Transportation to and from the Lumen Christi v Northwest high-school football game.
  • DJ Mike Holiday plays popular tunes Friday evening beginning at 6 p.m. in the Entertainment Tent.
  • Variety and Talent Show will be held Saturday afternoon in the Ken Dillon Center.
  • Art and Artisan Day, sponsored by Art 634, will be Saturday afternoon in the Event Tent.
  • Cornhole Tournament, sponsored by the Hub, will be Saturday afternoon.
  • Laser Light Show at dusk on Saturday.
  • Animal Advocacy Day, featuring Animal Rescue and Blessing of the Pets, will be Sunday afternoon in the Event Tent
  • Randy Wrozek and the Hy-Notes perform Sunday afternoon in the Entertainment Tent.

The event is sponsored by St. Mary Star of the Sea, St. John the Evangelist, Queen of the Miraculous Medal and Lumen Christi Catholic schools; Jim Winter Buick is the presenting sponsor. Admission and parking are free.

Come for the fun and grab a great meal at the Mexican Dinner Saturday, from 4-7 p.m., and the Polish Dinner, 12-3 p.m., in the Ken Dillon Center. Impromptu eaters can find a variety of choices daily in the Food Tent during festival hours.

Jackson, MI – The Jackson Family Festival takes place Sept. 14-16, 2018, on the grounds of St. John School, 405 E. North St., in Jackson. Now in its 15th year, this event brings together a wide variety of family-friendly entertainment for people of all ages. The event is sponsored by St. Mary Star of the Sea, St. John the Evangelist, Queen of the Miraculous Medal and Lumen Christi Catholic schools; Jim Winter Buick is the presenting sponsor.
